Kia Motors has released a teaser of the flagship electric SUV Kia EV9 coming to India ahead of its official launch next month. The EV9 is set to take the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market by storm with its bold design, advanced features and sustainability focus. The upcoming model is now listed on the brand’s official India website. The SUV was also recently teased on Kia India’s Instagram page and the teaser trailer prominently appears on the website listing when you click on the new model page. The South Korean carmaker is set to debut the new model range with the introduction of the GT-Line AWD variant of the car.
How many kilometres will the Kia EV9 run on a single charge?
Before its launch in India, it has been launched abroad. Talking about the performance of the Kia EV9, its range is 434 kilometres. That is, the Kia EV9 can travel 434 kilometers on a single charge. In such a situation, it can be assumed that the Kia EV9 can perform similarly in India as well. Along with this, this car is powered by 350 kW DC fast charging. This car can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 24 minutes.
Kia EV9: Powertrain, Specs, Features
In overseas markets, the Kia EV9 is available with two battery options: a 76.1kWh unit and a larger 99.8kWh unit. The rear-wheel drive variant with a single motor has an EPA-estimated range of 370-489km, while the all-wheel drive version with dual electric motors has a range of 435-451km on a single charge.
The single-motor version produces 201hp or 215hp and 350Nm of peak torque, depending on the variant. The AWD version, on the other hand, makes 379hp and 700Nm of torque. The range-topping GT-Line can sprint from 0-100kmph in 5.3 seconds and then hit a top speed of 200kmph. It remains to be seen if both the RWD and AWD versions will be brought to India.
Kia EV9: Expected Price, Rivals
The EV9 will be brought to India as a direct import and will be positioned above Kia’s current flagship offering, the EV6. It is expected to be priced above Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom), which means it will rival luxury electric SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, BMW iX1 and the Audi Q8 e-tron. Along with the EV9, Kia will also launch the next-gen Carnival in India on October 3.
