Kia Carens Clavis: Car manufacturer Kia India has launched its Kia Carens Clavis MPV in the Indian market. The company has launched this car at a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Booking of this car started from May 9 and it has been introduced in seven variants in three engine options and eight color schemes.
This new car will be sold alongside the existing Kia Carens MPV, but the latter is available only in the entry-level Prestige (O) variant in all three engine options. Its delivery will start from next week.
Design and features of Kia Carens Clavis
The new Kia Carens Clavis retains the MPV silhouette of the Carens family, but it gets a new face, new design for alloy wheels and Kia’s signature connected tail lamps. Talking about its interior, the overall interior layout has also been retained, but now it has elements like dual digital screens and blue and beige upholstery.
The Carens Clavis can be purchased in both six-seater and seven-seater layouts. Kia has further enhanced the feature list by adding Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, electric parking brake, powered driver seat and drive modes to this car. The carmaker has also expanded the scope of its connected car system.
Powertrain options of Kia Carens Clavis
Talking about the powertrain available in it, the Carens Clavis gets the option of a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which generates 113bhp of power and 144Nm of torque, which is paired with a 6-speed MT gearbox. Apart from this, the 1.5-litre GDI turbo-petrol engine generates 158bhp of power and 253Nm of torque.
This engine is available with a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT or 7-speed DCT. Its third engine option is a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which generates 113 bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Rivals of Kia Carens Clavis
The new Carens Clavis is priced very high and competes with many vehicles at this price. In the lower and mid-spec trims, it competes with cars like Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyder. At the same time, the top end variant competes with the entry-level versions of cars like Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and Mahindra XUV700.
