On the day of the release of Pathaan, Kangana Ranaut posted a tweet accusing the film industry of being “crass” in its approach to success, claiming that they like to “flash currency digits in your face” to measure the success of any endeavour.
Kangana made the Statement Just after returning to Twitter
The Bollywood actress returned to Twitter the day before and made her comment in response to the much-anticipated release of Shah Rukh Khan’s film, suggesting it will have a record-breaking opening on Wednesday.
Kangana Ranaut tweeted Wednesday morning that the movie industry is so abrasive and coarse that, to indicate the triumph of any work/creation/art, they always flaunt large money figures, as though art has no other purpose. This reveals their low standards and the miserable lives they lead.
The speaker noted that while the film industry is not created to generate great profits like other industries, it is why art and artists are respected.
She commented, “Historically, art had its beginnings in temples, then evolved to literature and theater, and finally ended up in theaters.
Even though it is an industry, it has not been developed to produce massive economic benefits like other businesses. That is why art and artists are venerated instead of industrialists and billionaires.
She added that while artists may sometimes engage in activities that are damaging to art and culture, they should do so discreetly and not brazenly.
Kangana Ranaut’s Twitter account was restored on Tuesday after two years of being banned for “repeated violations” of its hateful conduct and abusive behaviour policies. After Elon Musk took over Twitter, she shared requests from various Twitter users who appealed to him to restore her Twitter account.
Kangana yet to Experience a Commercial Hit
Kangana Ranaut has yet to experience a major commercial success since her movie Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi grossed ₹92 crore at the domestic box office in 2019. Her subsequent films Panga, Thalaivii and Dhaakad, however, failed to attract substantial box office numbers.
For the past year, the actor has been working on her debut movie, Emergency, which she’s directing herself. She recently revealed that she has taken out a mortgage on her property to fund the film. Additionally, she will be playing the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the movie.
