India’s First-Ever Glass Roof Train is Set To Be On Tracks Soon!: When it comes to the best rail travel in the world, the new glass roof train between Kalka and Shimla is going to soon rule the charts.

After a successful trial on 1 December, all new Vistadome coach between Kalka-Shimla rail route is all set to give magical experience to its passengers.

While you can stare at the amazingly surreal mountain landscapes, the glass roof train route will take you to the lovely hypnotic state during the times of snow and rainfall.

The Ministry of Railways had introduced the secondVistadome Coach, funded by the Ministry of Tourism on the Jan Shatabdi Express which runs on the beautiful Mumbai-Goa Route to provide a panoramic view of the stunning Western Ghats.

If you are a lover of the beautiful train trip, then you should keep this wonderful experience in your list. The out-of-the-ordinary and the first-of-its-kind coach on 115-year-old Kalka-Shimla rail route has been replenished from an old second class coach with the cost of INR 10 lakhs.

Not only the cool glass roofing facility, but the fully air-conditioned Westdome Coach also comes with cushioned wooden furnishings to give you a classic feeling and designer LED lights to juice up the interiors.

The modification has been done to the Vistadome coach given for Kalka-Shimla Rail as per the suitability.

The usual Vistadome coaches are fitted with automatic sliding compartment doors, multiple TV screens, and broader bodyside door. The seats are rotatable by 360-degree and are pushback chairs.

However, the seats of this Kalka-Shimla Rail Vistadome coach is not rotatable.

Steel railings have also been elevated by the doors for the safety of passengers.

From Kalka to Shimla, the tickets for 36-seater glass roof train will cost around INR 500, which is only a few bucks higher than the existing Shivalik Deluxe Express which cost around INR 425.

The journey time between Kalka and Shimla on the new Vistadome is about 5 hours.

However, the railway officials are planning to reduce travel time to 4 hours or less. They are also planning to launch more coaches after receiving positive feedback from tourists.

As per the saying of Northern Railways, the Vistadome coach will soon be put into service for passengers to get indulge in the views of verdant valleys and lush mountains.
