Javed Akhtar refuses to have written songs for ‘PM Narendra Modi’

Famous Lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar refused to write songs for the Vivek Oberoi-starrer ‘PM Narendra Modi’, based on the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The news came after a poster of the film featured Javed’s name as a lyricist.

While sharing the picture of the poster, Javed tweeted, “Am shocked to find my name on the poster of this film. Have not written any songs for it.”

Other than Javed, the poster features names of Prasoon Joshi, Sameer, Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay, Sardaraa, Parry G and Lavraj, among many others.

Vivek Oberoi will portray the role of Narendra Modi in this biographical drama.

On Wednesday, the trailer of the much-anticipated film was released after a trailer launch event the same afternoon. The trailer surfaced the internet on social media soon after it dropped for both good and bad reasons.

While some of the netizens liked the trailer and the portrayal of Modi, others thought that the actor was miles away from the Prime Minister.

Earlier, the film was scheduled to release on April 12, a day after the first phase of Lok Sabha elections completion, but now has been preponed to April 5. The 2019 general elections will take place from April 11 to May 19.

The first phase will have  91 constituencies across 20 states, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh.

On January 7, ‘PM Narendra Modi’ was launched in Mumbai by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

On January 28, the film went on floors in  Modi’s home state Gujarat. The movie is also being shot at several other locations across Delhi and Uttarakhand.

The film will showcase the journey of Modi from his gentle beginnings to his fortunate years as Gujarat’s chief minister and finally his historic landmark election as the Prime Minister.

Vivek, who was missing from the acting world lately, has done films like ‘Krrish 3’ (2013), ‘Omkara’ (2006), ‘Company’ (2002) and ‘Saathiya’ (2002).

Including Vivek, the film also features Boman Irani, Zarina Wahab, Darshan Kumaar, Manoj Joshi, Prashant Narayanan, Barkha Bisht Sengupta, Anjan Shrivastav, Rajendra Gupta, Akshat R Saluja, and Yatin Karyekar in pivotal roles.

In Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, the film will be released.

The biopic will be directed by Omung Kumar, who has done some critically acclaimed films like ‘Mary Kom’ and ‘Sarbjit’. Sandip Singh is the producer of this biographical drama.
