Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was attacked by a smoke bomb while he was on his way to deliver a speech in Wakayama. The incident left the security department trembling as they were highly precautions since the assassination of former PM Shinzo Abe in 2022.
Japan PM Attacked by a Smoke Bomb
Japan PM Fumio Kishida was attending a rally at Wakayama prefecture when a crook attempted a ferocious attack on him. Fumio was surrounded by security personnel at the time of the attack and many locals were also present at the scene.
PM Kishida was all set to deliver his speech when a smoke bomb was thrown at the gathering. The bomb blasted and the loud noise trembled the Wakayama port. This left everyone panicked as no one knew what actually happened.
Fortunately, no one was harmed in the incident as it was just a smoke bomb. However, the havoc dismantled the security around PM Fumio Kishida for a while but the security personnel soon gathered up and safely evacuated PM Kishida from the site.
Who Planned the Incident?
Japan broadcasting commission, NHK telecasted footage showing the police detaining an individual that threw a smoke bomb at Fumio Kishida. The man caught as a suspect was not more than 30 years old.
The incident is said to be inspired by the fact that Japan hosted a G7 ministerial event in Northern Sapporo and the city of Karuiwaza in Nagano ahead of the May leaders’ summit in Hiroshima.
Former PM Shinzo Abe’s Assassination
Former PM of Japan, Shinzo Abe was assassinated on 8 July 2022 while speaking at a political event outside Yamato-Saidaiji Station in Nara City, Japan. He was shot from a close range from behind with a homemade firearm.
Japan worked on strengthening its force and PM’s security to prevent such an attempt in the future. However, it seems even the increased security isn’t enough to provoke the mischievous attempts of the evils.
