Jallianwala Bagh Massacre is memorized as one of the worst human-oriented genocide. On April 13, 1919, thousands of innocent were exterminated under British Rule. The people gathered at the Jallianwala to pleasantly protest against the Rowlatt Act and the arrest of pro-independence activists Satyapal and Saifuddin Kitchlew.

Jallianwala Bagh Massacre: General Dyer’s Command

General Dyer was the solely responsible representative that gave orders to shoot at the crowd filled with innocent people. Dyer knew that the people won’t be able to escape the Jallianwala Bagh as it was enclosed by three sides and the only side left open was occupied by the soldiers of the British commander.

The ground was filled with thousands of people at the time when General Dyer announced his fleet to open fire. The firing killed around 1500 people present on site and injured more than 1200 people.

What Happened to General Dyer After the Incident?

The Hunter Committee condemned the Jallianwala Bagh massacre but didn’t take any action against General Dyer. Later, he was removed from the position of Brigade Commander and banned to work in India ever again.

Sardar Udham Singh, the sufferer from the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre who got injured during the incident survived and went to avenge the mass killing of innocents. Udham Singh went to Britain and shot Michael O’Dwyer who approved General Dyer for initiating the massacre.
