On this day, Dr. James Baker discovered the cocoa powder in 1764. He along with a chocolate maker tried to make chocolate by grinding the beans between millstones. Initially, it was for making a chocolate beverage.

Later, Coenraad van Houten discovered the cocoa butter. Rodolphe Lindt took it one step further by introducing the silky and smooth chocolate through conching process. After that, the process of discoveries continues and the very first cake recipe was introduced in 1847 by Eliza Leslie.

Other bakers also made contributions to the recipe and first cake mixes, dry cakes, lava cakes, and many more were discovered.

What’s once thought as a complicated recipe and included must-have ingredients like eggs and milk, is now a piece of cake. There are ample variants of cake today.

  1. German chocolate cake
  2. Truffle cake
  3. Souffle cake
  4. Rum cake
  5. Flourless chocolate cake
  6. Black forest

No matter which one you are gonna choose, it would be a delicious treat but we won’t call it healthy as lots of sugar and diary products go into it.

Thus, more and more people are shifting towards vegan chocolate cake than traditional cake. Only reason could be the less amount of saturated fats they have but let me tell you, there’s no much difference between the two.

Check out the ingredients you are replacing with the traditional ones to make your cake healthier, delicious, and nutritious. It can be tricky at first but with the right recipe you can bake a good cake.
