IPL New Rules:

IPL New Rules: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has declared a new set of rules for the IPL 2023 which will begin in five days on March 31. The new rules added to the Indian Premiere League will excite the games.

The new rules may improve the game for the players and it might as well create more opportunities for players to cast their skills. IPL 2023 new rules will include a rule where players can challenge wide balls and no balls by the Umpires. This rule was also included in the inaugural Women’s Premiere League play this year.

IPL New Rules

  • Two Teams for Each Team

IPL New Rules: Each team will have to carry two team sheets before going for the toss. The teams can select 11 players after the toss and include five more players as substitutes.

  • Review for Wide Balls & No Balls

IPL New Rules: Players will now be allowed to challenge the Umpire’s decision of wide ball and no ball. The decision may or may not turn in the team’s favor after the review is conducted by the Third Umpire.

  • Impact Player (Substitute)

IPL New Rules: Teams can now use impact players in between the match to alter their in-field players. This rule comes with a condition i.e. team can use impact players, who have to be Indian unless they start with less than 4 players in a match. The Umpire will use a new sign for assigning impact player, this is what it looks like:

  • Unfair Play Penalty

IPL New Rules: BCCI has ordered a new rule that if the fielding team is involved in ‘unfair’ play by any means then they will suffer a “5 runs” penalty. 5 runs will be awarded to the batting team. There’s another rule under which if the striker batsmen have to leave the pitch due to the fielding team then they will suffer a penalty in that case as well.  Umpire will offer a no-ball to the batting team followed by a dead ball (the bowl that sent the striker out of the pitch).

  • New Penalty for Bowling Team

IPL New Rules: If the fielding team is somehow not able to complete their overs in the stipulated time then they would only be allowed to keep 4 players outside the 30-yard circle. Previously, the team was only penalized for this and they still have to pay the fine. This new rule is in addition to the previous rule of penalty.
