According to which this year’s tournament was to be held from 15 March to 25 May. However, the final of the ICC Champions Trophy will be played on 9 March. Therefore, to give rest to the players, BCCI extended the date of starting of IPL by one week.
The Champions Trophy will be played in Pakistan and UAE from 19 February to 9 March. IPL will start 2 weeks after this. Even if Team India reaches the final, the players will have a lot of time to rest.
There has been a tradition in IPL that the first and final match of the next season is played on the home ground of the defending champion team. In 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the title in Chennai. So now the opening and final match will be held in Kolkata.However, it has not been revealed yet which team KKR will face in the opening match.
There will be 74 matches in the 18th season.
IPL will have its 18th season in 2025, the tournament started in 2008 and has been played every year since then. There will be 74 matches between 10 teams in the 18th season, the same number of matches are being played in every season since 2022.
When IPL sold its broadcasting rights in 2022, it was said that there would be 84-84 matches in the 2025 and 2026 seasons. However, to manage the workload of the players, the committee is going to organize only 74 matches this time.
IPL will be held in these stadiums
BCCI has also decided that this time, WPL will be played on four grounds. Last season, all the matches were held in Mumbai and Bangalore; this time, both venues have been chosen. However, this time, Kotambi Stadium of Vadodara and Ekana Stadium of Lucknow have also been chosen. Matches are to be held in Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. WPL started in 2023. Mumbai Indians won the first season and Royal Challengers Bangalore won the last season. Both the teams defeated Delhi Capitals in the final. 22 matches will be played between 5 teams in the tournament.
