IPL 2025, postponed due to the military conflict between India and Pakistan, may resume on May 16 or 17 and its final is likely to be held outside Kolkata. The ceasefire announcement on Saturday has raised hopes of resuming the league, which was suspended for a week on May 9. IPL Governing Council members and BCCI officials discussed plans to resume the league on Sunday.

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said the board is still working on creating a suitable schedule. According to the Indian Express report, a BCCI source said, “Since the IPL has been postponed by a week, the IPL final can now be played on May 30 in limited venues instead of May 25.

Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals may be given one point each for the match canceled on Thursday. When the match had to be stopped in Dharamsala due to increasing tension between India and Pakistan, Punjab Kings had scored 122 runs for one wicket in 10.1 overs . The players were taken by bus to Jalandhar in Punjab, from where they reached Delhi by train.

The remaining matches of the tournament will be played in Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Lucknow

If four venues are selected to host the remaining 16 matches, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians will not get a chance to host home matches. This means that the remaining matches of the tournament will be limited to Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Lucknow.

Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad are already out of the playoff race and seven teams are contenders for the four playoff spots. Gujarat Titans currently lead the table with 16 points and a better net run rate of 0.793 .

It is followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (16 points, 0.482 net run rate), Punjab Kings (15), Mumbai Indians (14), Delhi Capitals (13), Kolkata Knight Riders (11) and Lucknow Super Giants (10).
