All apps of the Meta platform including Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Threads messaging app were down for about 3 hours across the world. According to the report, thousands of users across the world had complained about this. According to the outage tracking website, Facebook was not working on the phones of more than 50,000 users. At the same time, more than 23,000 users complained about Instagram being down.
Service down from 10:58 pm
The service was down around 10:58 pm on December 11. Then Facebook users were facing problems in logging in and uploading posts. Existing posts were also not getting updated. After which users complained about it on social media X.
Similarly, Instagram also faced similar problems. Users were facing difficulty in accessing posts or updating content. The app was also crashing repeatedly. The same was the case with WhatsApp. Later, the service was restored at around 2 am on December 12.
The company said
An official statement has been issued by Meta. The company said- We are aware that some users are facing problems in the application due to technical problems. We are working on fixing it as soon as possible. We apologize to those who are facing problems.
Meta service has been down before this as well
Social media apps Facebook and Instagram went down for many users across the world on May 15. Hundreds of users reported problems related to these apps on Down Detector. Data from outage tracking website Downdetector showed that users started reporting outages from around 4 am. The maximum number of users reported problems at 07.30 am. However, outage reports decreased after this.
Earlier on the night of March 5, users on both platforms of Meta company had problems logging in and refreshing feeds. Users’ accounts on Facebook were automatically logged out, while on Instagram users were not able to refresh new feeds.
