India U-19 Women team defeated New Zealand by 8 wickets in the T-20 World Cup and now face England-Australia as the winner.

Indian girls have entered the final of the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. The Indian team defeated New Zealand by 8 wickets on Friday. Now they will face the winning teams of England and Australia in the final.

The second semifinal of this tournament will be played between England and Australia starting at 5:15 pm. The final of the tournament will take place in Potchefstroom on 29 January at 5:15 pm.

On Friday, India won the toss and elected to bat first in the semifinal. New Zealand started the innings with a score of 107 runs in 20 overs, with 8 wickets. Nitsha scored 3 runs before getting out. Before that, George Plimmer scored 35 runs and Isa Bella 26 runs before getting out. Parashvi Chawda scored 3 wickets for India.

The Indian team achieved the target of 108 runs in 14.2 overs by losing two wickets. Shweta (61 runs) won the match. Apart from her, Soumya Tiwari contributed 22 runs and Captain Shafali Verma added 10 runs.

Shweta Sehrawat (61 runs) scored a superb half-century for the Indian team. Along with this innings, Shweta also became the top scorer in the tournament. Her knocks have yielded a total of 292 runs so far, including three half-centuries. England’s Grace Scrivens scored 269 runs to take second place. With this score, Shweta has the opportunity to move ahead of her in the semi-final.

In the first ball of the 16th over, captain Shafali Verma was caught by the fielder off the bowling of Browning. In the second ball of the 13th over, Browning bowled a bold delivery to Soumya Tiwari.

  • sixth wicket was taken by Shefali Verma in the first ball of the 16th over when he caught K Irvin off Mannat Kasyap’s hands.
  • seventh wicket was taken by Archana Devi in the fifth ball of the 17th over when she caught P Chaudhary off J Plimers’ hands.
  • last wicket was taken by Sweta Saharawat in the last ball of the innings when K Night was run out.

New Zealand has won all the matches, including the one where India lost. The team has reached the semi-finals of the tournament with a great victory over Indonesia, Ireland and the West Indies in the group stage. Then, they defeated Pakistan and Afghanistan by a big margin in the Super-6 stage.

England also won all the matches, staying in second place in Super-6 Group-2, as they won all their 5 matches with a huge margin and had a better net run rate than New Zealand.

England will face Australia in the first place. Australia was second in the Super-6 Stage Group-1 after India. They had won two Super-6 matches but suffered a defeat against Bangladesh in the pool stage, which decreased their net run rate and the team finished in second place after India.
