The Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2026 will be announced today. Before this, a meeting will be held in Mumbai involving all the selectors, including Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Suryakumar Yadav. The T20 World Cup will begin on February 7th next year. 20 teams will participate in the tournament, and the final match will be played on March 8th.
T20 World Cup 2026: Gill adds to the tension
As the T20 World Cup 2026 approaches, Shubman Gill is in the spotlight. In the 15 T20 International matches he has played this year, he has scored 291 runs at a strike rate of 137.26. However, he hasn’t proven to be very effective as an opener for the team. In the three matches against South Africa, he managed to score only 32 runs.
Suryakumar Yadav to attend the meeting
Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav will also be present at the meeting, although he is currently in Ahmedabad for the fifth and final T20 against South Africa. The 15-member squad will be submitted to the ICC beforehand; however, changes to the tournament squads can be made in case of injuries or concerns about form. Further changes during the tournament will require the approval of the ICC Technical Committee.
India is co-hosting the T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka. India will begin its campaign against the USA at the Wankhede Stadium on February 7th. They will then travel to Delhi for their second Group A match against Namibia, followed by a high-stakes encounter against Pakistan in Colombo, and will conclude their group stage matches against the Netherlands in Ahmedabad
