India Clinched 5th Victory Against England Breaking 34-Year Old Record

After losing the first match against England, Team India was under immense pressure in the second test match of the series. The team played extremely well and defeated England by 317 runs. There’s an atmosphere of celebration everywhere but the victory against England is not the reason alone.

India Created History In Second Test Match

India has broken the 34-year old record against England making it the fifth-biggest victory after the 1986 match in terms of runs. India won the first test match against England in Kolkata with 187 runs in 1961. The other two victories were made in 2016, and 2018 in Visakhapatnam and Nottingham respectively.ย 

Level Up In The Points Table

India has gained the second position in the World Test Championship points table with a total of 460 points. England has slipped from the first position to fourth with 442 points.ย

Ravichandran Ashwin became the world’s first to take 200th wickets of a left-hand batsman by taking Stuart Broad’s wicket.ย 

With a total of 268 test wickets, Ashwin broke Harbhajan Singh’s record of taking the most Test wickets ever. Harbhajan has taken 265 Test wickets so far and is in the third position whereas Anil Kumble is in the first position with 350 wickets in 63 matches.

The second match of the India Vs England series was the debut match of Axar Patel who is a left-arm spinner.

His performance was outstanding in his first match where he took 5 wickets. He said, ” It was a good experience.”
