The hosting of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is with Pakistan Cricket Board i.e. PCB. PCB’s problems are being blown up by the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI. BCCI has put pressure on Pakistan through ICC that this tournament to be played in February-March will be organized on a hybrid model. So that the Indian team plays all its matches in Dubai and the remaining matches are held in Pakistan.
However, PCB is not ready for this at the moment. There are even reports that Pakistan may withdraw from hosting the tournament if the Indian team does not come to Pakistan. If this happens, then a new country may get a chance to host the tournament. Then this tournament can be hosted in South Africa.
BCCI said the Indian team will not go to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Actually, BCCI has informed ICC through email that the Indian team will not go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. Due to security reasons, the Government of India will also not be in favor of this. In such a situation, the tournament should be organized on a hybrid model. On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board is not ready for this. The Pakistani government has put pressure on the PCB and said that if the Indian team does not come to Pakistan, then Pakistan can leave the hosting of the tournament and is not ready to organize the tournament on a hybrid model.
Why can South Africa become the host for ICC Champions Trophy 2025?
If the Pakistan Cricket Board withdraws from hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, then this tournament can also be organized in South Africa because it will be a good option for everyone. The SA20 League will end there in the first week of February and after that the window for the Champions Trophy will be vacant. Apart from this, no ICC event has been organized in South Africa for a long time, so this can also be a good option for the ICC. However, South Africa has to jointly host the 2027 ODI World Cup with Zimbabwe.
