Humanity Shamed Again: Two Girls Found Dead In Field, Third Critical

On Wednesday evening, two minor girls were found dead in a field of the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh. Also, another teenaged girl was found in critical condition in the same field.

According to the reports, the incident happened in Babura village of Unnao, where three girls went out to bring fodder but did not return home for a long time. When the family and natives of the village started searching for them, they found their bodies in a field.

The two girls who lost their lives were merely 13 and 16 years old, while the third girl was identified as 17 years old. The two elder girls were siblings, while the younger one was their cousin.

Three of them were rushed to the hospital where doctors declared two of them as brought dead. Their bodies have been sent for postmortem and further investigation. The third girl has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition.

According to various sources, the police suspect that the girls were poisoned. They claimed there was no evidence of a struggle at the spot and no injury marks were observed on the girls’ prima facie. However, one of the family members of the girls’ stated that they had been found with tied hands and legs.

The police stated that they are recording the doctor’s statement and collecting evidence for further investigation.

When netizens came across the news, soon #Save_Unnao_Ki_Beti started trending on Twitter. People are questioning the Government for not being able to stop such crimes. The thread has received 255K Tweets so far.

Women’s safety is again in question with the increased rate of crimes against them. The judicial system of the country has once again become a topic of argument. It seems like it has become a priority to look after the law and education system of our country to stop such incidents.
