The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design is tipped to launch in September 2024 as the world’s first commercial triple-screen foldable phone. The handset features a 6.4-inch cover screen (when folded once) and a 10.2-inch tablet screen (when unfolded twice).
The phone was also launched in some global markets this year. The Chinese smartphone brand is now working on the Huawei Mate XT 2, which will be its second tri-fold smartphone. A tipster has shared details about the Mate XT 2, which is said to launch in the second half of 2025.
Huawei Mate XT 2 launch timeline
In a post on Weibo, tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that Huawei will launch a new tri-fold smartphone in the second half of this year. The model will have the same screen resolution as the original Mate XT Ultimate Design, and could be called the Huawei Mate XT 2. According to the information received, it will have a new chipset, camera upgrades and other hardware improvements.
Previous leaks claimed that the Huawei Mate XT 2 will have a Kirin 9020 processor. It is expected to be much better than the Kirin 9010 chipset used in the Mate XT Ultimate Design. At present, other specifications of this triple foldable have not been leaked yet, but more information can be found soon as the release date approaches.
Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design Price and Specifications
The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design was launched in China in September 2024, with a starting price of CNY 19,999 (approximately Rs 2,35,900) for the 16GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. It was also introduced in some global markets in February.
The Mate XT Ultimate Design has HarmonyOS 4.2. It has a 10.2-inch flexible LTPO OLED main screen. Once folded, it has a 7.9-inch display and when folded a second time, it looks like a regular smartphone with a 6.4-inch display. It has a triple-camera setup and a 5,600mAh battery, which supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.
