Recently, a government doctor from Tamil Nadu saw an advertisement on YouTube, which talked about investing money in the stock market. The doctor fell into this trap and the fraudsters took Rs 76.5 lakh from him.

A professor of a government medical college saw an advertisement on YouTube, which talked about investing money in the stock market. He clicked on this advertisement, after which he was added to a WhatsApp group. In this group, some people were calling themselves experienced investors and telling ways to earn money in the stock market. According to the report of The Hindu, the professor fell into this trap and joined the group.

The doctor was first given tips

In the first few days, this WhatsApp group told the doctor about investing in the stock market. This made the doctor think that these people were really teaching investment. This group was being run by a person named “Diwakar Singh”. He often used to give tips to people on buying and selling shares. Gradually, the doctor started trusting this group and opened an account on an online trading platform.

Investment of about 76.5 in three weeks

The people of the group told the doctor that if he invests money by trusting them, he will get huge profits. They said that they will invest the doctor’s money in shares of big Indian and American companies. The fraudsters told the names of some shares and companies issuing new shares and said that there will be a profit of 30% in them. The doctor fell into this trap and he gave about 76.5 lakh rupees to these people in three weeks.

Filed a police report as soon as he got suspicious

But on October 22, when the doctor tried to withdraw his money, he was told that he would have to pay 50 lakh rupees more. This money was to be given to a fake organization “Qualified Institutional Buyers Association”. This made the doctor suspicious. He understood that he has been cheated and he lodged a complaint with the police.

Police and cyber crime people are telling people to be cautious of such advertisements coming online, which promise to earn money very quickly. Experts advise people not to click on links sent by strangers and not to share their bank account details in any unknown group.
