Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) has introduced the concept version of Honda Activa CUV e at the ongoing motor show EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy. Activa is the best selling scooter in the Indian market Now the electric version of Activa is going to be launched soon. The company will sell this EV beneath the name Activa EV in India and beneath a diverse name in the global market. CUV e is offered with two removable battery packs.
Honda claims that it will get a range of more than 70 kilometers on a single charge. Apart from this, the company has not shared much information about the e-scooter. The company has shown this concept model at the Tokyo Motor Show last year.
Honda Activa EV: Design
CUV e has a traditional scooter design, which may look quite simple. In this, the headlight is given on the front panel, whereas in Activa Petrol, the headlight is available on the handle barHonda claims that it will be as powerful as a 110cc petrol scooter. This electric scooter will be launched with three color options. This includes Pearl Jubilee White, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and Premium Silver Metallic.
The Honda electric scooter has telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. It uses 190mm front disc and 110mm drum brake at the rear.It has 12-inch alloy wheels on both sides. CUV e will have a wheelbase of 1,310mm, seat height of 765 mm and ground clearance of 270mm.
Honda Activa EV: Performance
According to media reports, the Honda CUV e electric scooter will be provided with a mid-mounted electric motor with a maximum power of 6kW. The scooter will be given three riding modes: Standard, Sport and Econ. Apart from this, physical key and reverse mode will also be available as standard.
To power the motor, two 1.3kWh removable batteries will be available, which will have a range of 70km on a single charge and its top speed will be 80kmph. The electric scooter takes 3 hours to charge from 0 to 75% and 6 hours to charge from 0 to 100% using a standard charger.
Honda Activa EV: Feature
In terms of features, the CUV e has two different TFT consoles, the standard variant has a 5-inch instrument console, but it does not have smartphone connectivity. Whereas the Honda RoadSync Duo variant will get a 7-inch TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth for route, call/SMS alerts and music controls.
The electric scooter will also be provided with all-LED lighting setup and USB-C charging port.
Honda Activa EV: launch
Honda Motors is reportedly going to launch its first electric scooter for the Indian market in March 2025. It can be launched under the name of Activa EV. However, no official information has been received regarding this yet.
According to many media reports, it is also being said that the global debut of Activa electric scooter may take place at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 to be held in Delhi in January. Being the electric version of Activa, it is expected to gain popularity in the market soon.
Honda can launch its electric scooter at a low price. Its price could be around RS 1 lakh ex-showroom. Honda Activa EV will compete directly with Ola S1, TVS iQube and Ather 450 electric scooters in the Indian market.
