Happy Birthday PV Sindhu- A Synonym Of Stamina And Endurance

The sports sensation, inspiration for youths, and one of the world’s best badminton players from India turn 26 today. Yes, you guessed it right. Today is a special day for the former World Champion, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu aka PV Sindhu who will be playing in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics 2021.

She is known for her stamina and endurance and the 2017 World Championship is the proof. Neither Nozomi Okuhara nor Sindhu gave up and played nonstop for 110 minutes. It was recorded as the longest match in history.

Although she lost against Nozomi, this cannot undermine her achievements in other Badminton Championships. The former World No.1 is the only female player after Saina Nehwal to make history in the world of Badminton.

Like everyone, P.V. Sindhu has also waited for the Olympics as it’s another chance for her to win gold for the country. However, in 2016, she had to satisfy with a silver medal in Rio Olympics after losing against Carolina Marin. But she was the first to win silver in Olympics.

Asian Junior Championships

In 2012, Sindhu played the Under-19 tournament in South Korea. She reached to finals and won a gold medal in Girl’s Singles beating Nozomi Okuhara from Japan. Before this, she clinched bronze for the country under the junior championship in 2011.

Commonwealth Youth Games

The same year Sindhu played in Commonwealth Games held in Douglas. In the Girl’s singles, she defeated Soniia Cheah of Malaysia with a score of 22-20, 21-8 winning gold in the tournament.

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu became the first Indian badminton player to win the World Tour finals in 2018 where she played against Nozomi Okuhara.

P.V. Sindhu made history in the BWF again in 2019 by winning the first gold for the country. She is the only female player to do so in Women’s Singles. However, it was her 5th BMW championship before which she won 2 silver and 2 bronze in the same category.

After losing in the Iran Fajr tournament in 2010, Sindhu made a great comeback in the 2011 series and won all four tournaments.
