Former Italian striker, Juventus, and Chelsea Player Gianluca Vialli died at the age of 58. He was one of the greatest strikers of his generation.

Gianluca Vialli’s career as a football player was decorated. He joined both big European League clubs Juventus and Chelsea and played for the Italian team.
He was battling with pancreatic cancer for over 6 years and finally closed his eyes today.
A statement from his family read “Surrounded by his family, he passed away last night after five years of illness faced with courage and dignity.
“We thank the many who have supported him over the years with their affection. The memory of him and his example will live forever in our hearts.”

Gianluca Vialli career as Football Player (1980-99)
Gianluca Vialli’s football career began in 1980 after he joined a Cremonese club.
Later he join Sampdoria in 1990 with his childhood friend and current manager of the Italy team Robert Mancini.
The duo in that club known as ‘The Goal Twins’ with Vialli at his best won UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup (1990), three Italian Cups (1985,1988,1989), and Supercopa Italiana.
He quit Sampdoria and join Juventus with a record fee of 12.5 Million pounds. Vialli improved his striking ability there and won the Italian cup in 1995 He scored a total of 38 goals in 102 matches.
In 1996 he joined Chelsea and later in 1998 became its player-manager and led to the club’s victory in UEFA Super Cup in 1998. But he was sacked from his managerial post in the 2000-1 season.
In October 2019 he was appointed Italy team’s new chief which led to its victory in 2021.
After that, he left the Italy team in December in order to undergo surgery.

Gianluca Vialli Battling Cancer
In November 2018, Vialli found out about his pancreatic cancer condition. On 13 April 2020, he was all clear from pancreatic cancer that had been suffering for 17 months.
On 21st December 2021, his cancer appeared for the second time and he died in January 2023 at the age of 58.
