The matter gained concern when Deepak’s maid came to work on Wednesday. She tried to ring the bell but she got concerned after not receiving any reply. The maid then contacted Deepak’s mother after which police came to the spot and opened up the flat after getting keys with the help of relatives.

Geyser Gas Leak: Ghaziabad Case

A similar case of a geyser gas leak happened in Ghaziabad when a couple went to take a shower together after playing Holi. Deepak Goyal (40) and his wife Shilpi Goyal (36) were found dead in their bathroom in Ghaziabad. The couple’s children called relatives after their parents were not responding to their call. The couple was found unconscious and was later declared lifeless. The couple suffered a similar fate as the Mumbai couple.

How Did Geyser Gas Leak Kill them?

Geyser works on two mechanisms: Heating through electricity and Gas based heating. The second variant contains gas and it’s the one responsible for the deaths of couples from Mumbai and Ghaziabad. The two couples were intoxicated by Carbon Monoxide released from the geyser.

The carbon monoxide gas is odorless and colorless which it is hard to determine the leak. The couple inhaled the toxic gas and soon fell unconscious after that. Regular consumption of toxic gas led to their deaths.

How to avoid Geyser Gas Leak Accidents

As we have already discussed that the geyser gas leak consists of odorless and colorless gas carbon monoxide. In order to avoid accidents, one must provide a ventilation system in their bathroom and try to avoid using gas-based geysers and use electricity-based heating geysers.
