Gautam Gambhir Did Not Say Cricket Is More Important Than Work? Was It A Morphed Video, Then?

Indian Politics is slowly transitioning into Ekta Kapoor’s daily soaps, with all the planning-plotting, conspiracy stuff happening all around.

Maybe that’s why the TRP of News channels are touching skies because all we want is ‘Masaaledar News’ NOT reforms, right?

And then we blame the government for not doing anything!

Anyway, in the recent blitzkrieg, former cricketer-turned MP Gautam Gambhir faced a severe backlash on Social Media for missing an important meeting to address the deteriorating air quality in Delhi and enjoying ‘Poha-Jalebi’ in Indore with his friends, instead.

Now, the whole incident was put forward emphasizing on the narrative that Gautam Gambhir is not serious about his duties as an MP and an 8-seconds long video of him was surfaced where he was found saying, “is the meeting important or my work?”

Apparently, the video was tweeted by Arti Chadha, a member of Aam Aadmi Party’s Social Media team with the caption:

“People of Delhi; Listen to what your MP is saying – a meeting on Pollution is necessary or Cricket Commentary? Next time you think twice before voting on a celebrity.”

Here, Gautam Gambhir’s words “Is the meeting important or my work” was (mis)interpreted as Gambhir saying his commitments are more important than a meeting on discussing pollution.

The video was also tweeted by national media coordinator of AAP, Vikas Yogi, with the words, “Jalebi or meeting?”

What Actually Happened?

Now, the video in the question is all real, just that the context in which he said those words was wiped out of the picture very cleverly.

Take a look at the full video:

So, its quite clear that it was a deliberate attempt to defame Gautam Gambhir.

Well, what goes around comes around! What did you say who was responsible for your failure to score a century in WC finals? Yeah!
