Maruti Suzuki India has launched its first electric car in the global market at the EICMA-2024 motor show which started from (4 October) in Milan, Italy. Called e-Vitara, this mid-size electric SUV is the production version of the EVX, which was first introduced at the Auto Expo-2023.
The car will be launched in India at the Worldwide Mobility Show-2025. The generation of this electric SUV will start from February 2025 at the plant of Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited. It is anticipated to be available for sale in Europe, Japan and India by June. The company claims that the car will run up to 400 kilometers once completely charged.
E-vitara: Design
The design and feel of e Vitara is quite different from the Grand Vitara. This electric SUV is based on Heartect e-platform. Very sharp LED DRLs are seen in its front. A blanked off grill has been installed in it. Not only this, its top-end version has 19-inch alloy wheels, while its standard Plus variant has 18-inch alloy wheels.
In the Maruti e-Vitara, the door handles found in the previous Swift have been installed in this vehicle. From the rear, a glimpse of fronds can be seen in its design. Maruti’s electric car also has a wheel base of 2700 mm.
E-vitara: Power and Range
The standard version of Maruti e Vitara has a single front motor, which has a 49 kWh battery pack. It provides power of 142 bhp and generates torque of 189 Nm. But its range has not been disclosed. But the company had earlier told that the large battery pack with capacity of 61kWh can give a driving range of up to 500 km in a single charge in the global test. So approximately this much can be expected from this electric SUV. Which will be equipped with dual motor, which provides power of 180 bhp and torque of 300 Nm.
E-vitara: interior
The interior of e Vitara is quite spacious. Apart from this, the design of the dashboard of e-Vitara has been made quite different. Apart from this, this model has a new 2-spoke steering wheel. Has a twin screen layout And a new drive selector has also been provided. The e Vitara will also be offered with an electric 4WD system called ‘ALLGRIP-e’, which will give it off-road capabilities.
E vitara: Launch Date
Maruti e Vitara can be produced in India at Suzuki Motor Gujarat in the next year (2025). This vehicle can be sold through Nexa sales outlets. This could be Maruti’s most premium car. Although the company has not given any information yet, when will E Vitara enter the Indian market.
However, the company had said that the first EV will be launched in the Indian market in the spring season of 2025. Talking about the price of the 49kWh variant of the EV, its price is likely to start around RS 20 lakh (ex-showroom), while the price of the 61kWh variant could reach RS 25 lakh. The AWD model may cost around RS 30 lakh.
