Sidhu’s tight Slap to Critics
Heena Sidhu held her nerve strong throughout the women’s 25m pistol event and shot her eyes on Gold. She faced a lot of criticism on her selection ahead of the teenage Manu Bhaker for the respective event. Coming after qualification round only at the third place, she was able to beat Australia’s Elena Galiabovitch to win India’s 11th Gold and her first individual Gold in the three editions of Commonwealth games. Heena Sidhu is a 28-year old dentist from Mumbai. Annu Raj Singh, who qualified at second, was unable to find the flow and settled down at sixth place.
India is in the third position taking 11 Golds. Still, 5 days to go, we are keeping our hopes top-notch high from last year tally with 15 Golds. India will have an eye to achieve more medals in shooting, boxing, and wrestling.
On Day 5 (Monday), India won its 10th gold by defeating Malaysia in the Badminton Mixed Team event at the Commonwealth Games 2018. On the fifth day of Commonwealth Games 2018, ace shooter Jitu Rai scored the first gold in the 10-meter air pistol event, while Om Mitharval claimed bronze for the same event. The men’s table tennis team clinched the ninth gold for India.
