COVID-19: Maharashtra Can Now Conduct 500 Tests For Coronavirus Per Day

The rising number of coronavirus cas4es in Maharashtra, the COVID-19 positive cases have touched 320. So far 12 deaths have been reported from the state. The cases are increasing in Maharashtra day by day and the need to conduct coronavirus tests every day was very necessary.

Keeping the current situation in mind Maharashtra can now conduct 5500 tests per day at 13 govt and 8 private laboratories. So far Maharashtra has tested 6,323 tests out of which 5911 have tested negative.

Health Minister Rajesh Tope said:

“We have followed up with the centre to increase the testing facilities in the state. According to that, the Centre has given permission to government medical colleges and private labs to conduct these tests,”

As of now, there were 13 government laboratories that conducted tests for novel coronavirus but now three more govt labs have been set up. The tests will now be conducted in tets 16 laboratories and the capacity to conduct tests each day will be 2300. The private laboratories can tests up to 2800 samples for coronavirus.

Tope also said:

“The state government has enough machinery to face the present situation. We have 1.5 lakh N-95 masks, 35,000 Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits, and 21 lakh 70 thousand triple layer masks. We are trying to further increase the stock “
