The Mumbai police launched an investigation into the suicide of Tunisha Sharma, uncovering various facts as the case progresses. Sheezan Khan, her ex-boyfriend and co-star of Alia Baba: Daastan-E-Kabul, is now under judicial custody due to accusations of abetment to suicide made by Tunisha's mother, Vaneeta. Recent findings by the police suggest Sheezan had started avoiding Tunisha after their break-up; they retrieved their deleted Whatsapp conversations as evidence. The Vasai court has denied Sheezan Khan's bail plea, and the next hearing will be on January 9, 2023. Reportedly, the delay was caused by Vaneeta's absence from the town.

The court delayed Sheezan Khan's application for bail.

Shailendra Mishra, Sheezan's lawyer, stated that the complainant's lawyer provided adjournment papers citing Tarun Sharma's involvement in High Court work and Vanita, Tunisha's mother, being in Chandigarh as their reason. As a result, the hearing was postponed to January 13, although the court accepted the adjournment and set the hearing date for January 9.
