Javed Akhtar was born on 17th January 1945 in Gwalior. His father Jan Nisar Akhtar was an Urdu poet and a songwriter. Following his father’s legacy, Javed decided to take his skill to the film industry.
To fulfil this dream, Javed Akhtar landed in Mumbai when he was only 19 years old. As per the tweet of Shabana Azmi (Javed Akhtar’s second wife), he was married to Honey Irani, Farhan Akhtar’s mother back then.
But entering the film industry was not that easy. Javed had to work hard to establish his foothold in Bollywood. He even starved for days when he first came to Mumbai.
However, his fortunes rose when he got a chance to write a screenplay for the 1975 superhit film Sholay along with Salim Khan. The film went a superhit, and for the first time in history, writers got their fees in crores.

Talking of his love life with Shabana Azmi, they first met when Javed Akhtar used to visit Kaifi Azmi’s house to recite poems. He was crazy about Shabana’s artwork.
After frequent meetings, the two fell in love. But when it came to marriage, Shabana’s mother was against this relationship because he was already married.
