Postal Department Employees To Get Compensation If Get Covid-19 On Duty

New Delhi:The employees of the Postal Department, which also come under essential services, will get compensation from the Central government. The Centre has decided to give Rs 10 lakh compensation to those who succumb to coronavirus on duty.

There is already an existing scheme for payment of compensation of the employees. But, On Friday, the Ministry of Communication told that employees of the department will get compensation of Rs10 lakh including Gramin Dak Sevaks.

All these guidelines for the extension of the scheme should come into effect immediately, said the Ministry. Also, they will remain in effect until the country deals with the crisis.

As per the order, the Postal Department is also providing its essential services. The Gramin Dak Sevaks not only deliver mails but also deliver food packets, COVID kits, and ration. Their services are worthy and important especially at this time of crisis.

They are following all the guidelines by the Centre. Also, they are corporating with the police authorities and local state administration while performing their services.

On April 14, the lockdown was supposed to end. But the rising cases have made the conditions worse. The extended lockdown has raised the need for essential services more.

Since these employees and postmen are risking their lives so such kind of compensation is a great effort. So, if an employee or postman gets infected during their duty they are eligible for compensation.

Moreover, Ravi Shankar Prasad held a meeting with all the chief post master generals and managers. He instructs them to keep the postal network active so that they can serve to the needy.
