Champions Trophy 2025: Will the Tournament Stay in Pakistan?

Champions Trophy 2025

The dispute between India and Pakistan over the Champions Trophy 2025 is deepening. Three important questions have arisen regarding the organization of the tournament – will it be held in Pakistan? Will it be held under the hybrid model? Or will it be shifted to another country? The dispute started when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) that the Indian team would not tour Pakistan due to security reasons. In response, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made it clear that they would not accept the hybrid model and would hold on to their right to host the tournament.

On this issue, former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar gave his reaction and said, “Talks must be going on behind the scenes between India and Pakistan. We should keep hope alive. It is a fact that 95-98 percent of ICC’s sponsorship comes from India. In such a situation, some solution will be found.”

Shoaib Akhtar also said, “It all depends on the governments, it has nothing to do with BCCI. Virat Kohli wants to play in Pakistan for the first time. Pakistan also wants to see Virat playing in their country. Imagine, if he scores a century in Pakistan, it will be a special moment in his career. Pakistan has always got this tag that it cannot host big tournaments. If this Champions Trophy happens, it will open the way for big events. However, I still think it is difficult to happen, but wait with your fingers crossed.”

Meanwhile, according to sources, talks are going on between ICC and PCB, and the schedule of the tournament can be finalized by the end of this week. It will be interesting to see what is the outcome of this growing dispute between India and Pakistan.
