10 Times Bollywood Recreated Famous Personalities, Did They Succeed?

Bollywood Movies Based on Famous People

Believe it or not, acting like any other character in front of the camera is a very difficult task. And it becomes harder when an actor is roped to portray a character of a famous personality.

Because in this case, the audience already knows the original one and definitely gonna compare. So, it takes lots of effort and a brilliant actor to recreate such kind of roles in movies.

Here, we have gathered a list of those actors who have played characters of famous people in Bollywood movies. Let’s see how far they went.

Bollywood Movies Tried to Recreated the Character of Famous People

1. Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt

Movies Based on Famous People

Undoubtedly, Ranbir Kapoor is one of the best actors in Bollywood who had proved himself many times. But the 2018 blockbuster Sanju showed us the level of his talent.

In that movie, Ranbir played the character of a well-known actor Sanjay Dutt. And while watching the movie, I needed to remind myself over and over again that he is Ranbir Kapoor, not Sanjay Dutt.

Ranbir played this character very efficiently and I think no one can copy Sanju Baba the way he did.

2. Sushant Singh Rajput as MS DhoniMovies Based on Famous People

Before seeing Sushant Singh Rajput in “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story,” we believed that no one can match the level of Captain Cool. But Sushant played his role in a very realistic manner.

From long-haired iconic to signature helicopter shots, the actor copied all things from the character of MS Dhoni.

According to the reports, Sushant spent so much time with Dhoni during the making of the film.

3. Vivek Oberoi as Narendra ModiMovies Based on Famous People

Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister of India and a personality who has a very huge fan following. But still, no one watched his biopic PM Narendra Modi.

And I think even Modi Ji didn’t watch it because he didn’t make any statement about the film.

The reason behind this failure is the acting of Vivek Oberoi. He looks like Modi Ji in the movie but wasn’t able to act like him.

4. Ranbir Singh as Kapil DevKapil Dev

It’s impossible not to mention Ranveer Singh’s 83 whenever we talk about movies based on famous people. Because this movie recreated the whole Indian squad of World Cup 1983.

All the characters in the film were portrayed very effectively, especially the character of Indian Captain Kapil Dev who is played by the talented Ranveer Singh.

The makeup artists totally converted Ranveer into the young Kapil Dev. You can’t even recognise the original one at first sight.

5. Shradhha Kapoor as Haseena ParkarHaseena Parkar

We all know Sharddha Kapoor as a sweet & cute actress who is fit for a romantic movie. But in the 2017 Haseena Parker, the actress proved she is more than that.

It was a very unexpected role for Shradhha because Haseena Parker is a character of Don Dawood Ibrahim’s sister who is known for crimes and definitely not a Haseena.

But, the actress transformed herself into Haseena and played it very efficiently. It is the most aggressive character Shraddha has ever played.

Mary Kom is a well-known character who takes a lot of effort to play. Because it is the role of an extremely fit boxer who had won the World Ameture Boxing Championship six times.

But Priyanka Chopra didn’t disappoint the audience as always. According to her fitness trainer, she followed a strict diet to fit her body.

Priyanka also even learned many boxing movies to perform on screen.

7. Farhan Akhtar as Milkha Singh Milkha Singh

Milkha Singh is the character of another sports champion who also takes efforts like Mary Kom. Because this character needs a body like an athlete.

So, Farhan Akhtar did five-six hours of intense training for the next 13 months after signing the Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. As a result, he appeared exactly like Milkha Singh and aced the role.

8. Kangana Ranaut as Parveen BabiParveen Babi

In 2006, Bollywood has revealed the story of the national crush of 80s, actress Parveen Babi through film Woh Lamhe. Her extraordinary and glamorous role was portrayed by Kangana Ranaut.

It was the debut movie of Kangana and she played it in a very realistic way. In fact, she had won many Filmfare awards for this role.

But unfortunately, the movie went too far because the makers changed the name of Parveen’s character. At first, no one even knows it was based on Parveen Babi.
