Online food delivery service provider Swiggy has released its report on order patterns. According to them, biryani was the most ordered dish in the country in 2024. The special thing is that biryani is the most ordered dish in India in the last 9 years. This year in India, two biryanis were ordered every second and 158 biryanis were ordered in 1 minute.
According to Swiggy, Biryani topped the list of most ordered dishes on the platform with 8.3 crore orders in 2024. At the same time, Masala Dosa stood second with 2.3 crore orders. Bangalore has maintained its dominance in eating Masala Dosa this year as well. People there ordered 25 lakh dosas between January 1 and November 22.
Most favorite dish
According to Swiggy’s ‘Food Trend Report’, after chicken burger, biryani was the second most preferred dish eaten late at night. The maximum number of orders of 18.4 lakh were made for chicken burger between 12 and 2 in the night. Chole, aloo paratha and kachori were the most ordered dishes in Delhi, Chandigarh and Kolkata. Apart from this, biryani was one of the most ordered dishes in trains.
Sweets most favourite dish
According to Swiggy’s report, the platform’s quick delivery service, Bolt, also made headlines. A sweets enthusiast in Bikaner received three flavours of ice cream in just 3 minutes, which demonstrates the speed of Swiggy’s operations. Rasmalai and Sitafal ice cream were the favourites among sweets this year.
According to the report, Swiggy’s delivery partners travelled a total of 1.96 billion kilometres. This is equivalent to travelling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari 5.33 lakh times. Kapil Kumar Pandey topped the list of Swiggy’s best performing delivery partners, Who made 10,703 deliveries in Mumbai. Kalishwari M from Coimbatore was at the top among women partners by delivering 6,658 orders.
Record of orders in Swiggy
- A customer from Bengaluru spent Rs 49,900 on pasta this year. He ordered around 55 Alfredo, 40 Mac & Cheese and 30 spaghetti plates.
- Swiggy saw 215 million orders for dinner this year, 29% more than lunch.
- Chicken rolls were the most loved snacks with 24.8 lakh orders. Chicken momos came in second with 16.3 lakh orders and potato fries came in third with 13 lakh orders.
