The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has used the caption ‘Jet Set Zimbabwe’ while sharing the latest photos of the young Team India leaving for the T20I series. In Zimbabwe, India will play 5 T20I matches, with the first match starting on July 6.

In the pictures shared by BCCI on social media, young Indian cricketers like Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar, Tushar Deshpande and Avesh Khan can be seen smiling while wearing black and white Indian jerseys.

Other players like Ravi Bishnoi, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Dhruv Jurel, and Mukesh Kumar are also in the picture. India’s interim head coach VVS Laxman is also seen smiling and looking at the camera.

The key players missing are Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed. These players were part of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. Skipper Shubman Gill was also not seen in the pictures shared by the BCCI.

At the moment, they are stranded in Barbados along with other World Cup heroes due to Hurricane Beryl. The airport was closed while flights were canceled due to the storm targeting the southeastern Caribbean.

Dube is not part of this squad

Dube was not part of this young Indian squad for the Zimbabwe tour. He was called up when the original selection, Nitish Kumar Reddy, got injured and missed out on making his international debut for India.

All the Zimbabwe-bound Team India players impressed the selectors with their performances in IPL 2024. With three T20I stalwarts, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja announcing their retirement soon after the World Cup win, this new brigade will have the responsibility of taking India’s legacy forward.
