BCCI Cancels IPL 2021 As Covid-19 Deepens Into IPL's Bio-Bubble

BCCI has cancelled IPL 2021 after few players and DDCA staff members found out covid positive yesterday. It was expected yesterday when BCCI asked the SRH team to go under quarantine. KKR vs RCB match and SRH vs MI was postponed following the rising number of covid cases within the IPL franchises.

BCCI Decides To Postpone Entire Tournament

The governing council of IPL and BCCI took immediate actions upon the situations and in an emergency meeting; the decision to cancel IPL was taken. It is for the safety of all the IPL players, stakeholders, and staff members involved in the game.

The IPL 2021 was just a cheer-up effort of the sports industry to entertain and bring positivity during the pandemic. But the covid-19 has caused interference in the game and many players from the teams have got infected.

Announcing the IPL cancellation, BCCI further said we will ensure all the safety arrangements for the players. Many players already left the season midway either due to personal reasons or injury. This includes R Ashwin, Ben Stokes, Adam Zampa, K Richardson, and a few more.

Moreover, there was news of shifting the tournament to UAE but the travel ban by UAE on Indian travelers has made it impossible. As for now, there would be no matches until the country’s covid situations get better or BCCI finds a safe alternative.
