Bangladesh: ACC approves chargesheet against BNP leader Falu, wife

Bangladesh’s Anti-Corruption Commission approved two charge sheets which are filed against Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Mosaddek Ali Falu and his companion Mahbuba Sultana in conjunction with confidential properties and assets worth 17.86 crores Bangladeshi Taka.

The Dhaka Tribune noted that the BNP lawmaker had not given any clear knowledge of his worth in the asset details submitted to ACC.

Apart from accusations of concealing assets, Public Relations Officer of the anti-corruption body Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya significantly stated that the BNP party leader, along with his wife, had brought in wealth beyond known sources of income.

The chargesheets were registered by ACC Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam at the Ramna police station in Dhaka, against the BNP lawmaker, who is too the chairman and managing director of a Bangladeshi separate television channel named NTV.

Additionally, the assets case likewise revealed that Falu’s wife had collected undisclosed income and assets worth almost Tk four crores.
