The country’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has recently launched the world’s first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered bike Bajaj Freedom 125 in the domestic market. Equipped with attractive looks and powerful engine, this bike has been introduced by the company at an initial price of Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). This CNG bike comes in a total of three variants – Disc LED, – Drum LED and – Drum only trim. So let’s know which of these variants will be better for you.
Bajaj Freedom bike will have two fuel tanks
The company has given two fuel tanks in Bajaj Freedom. One of them is for petrol and the other is a CNG cylinder which is placed under the seat. It has a 2 liter petrol tank and a CNG cylinder of 2 kg capacity. The company claims that in full tank (petrol + CNG), this bike gives a total range of up to 330 km. This bike gives a mileage of 65 km/liter in petrol and 100 km/kg in CNG. The special thing is that this bike can be started directly on CNG.
Power and Performance of Bajaj Freedom 125:
In the world’s first CNG bike Bajaj Freedom, the company has given a petrol engine of 125 cc capacity. This engine generates 9.5PS of power and 9.7Nm of torque. This bike can be driven in both petrol and CNG mode. For this, the company has given a switch on the handlebar. In which there is a button to change the mode. That is, by pressing a button, you will be able to change from petrol to CNG mode. The CNG cylinder given in the bike weighs 16 kg, while after filling CNG it becomes 18 kg. - Bajaj Freedom Drum: Rs 95,000 – First of all, let us tell you that, in terms of look and design, all three variants are quite similar. However, there is a slight change in the mechanism, which affects their prices. The entry level ‘Drum’ variant of Bajaj Freedom has a 130 mm drum brake in the front and a 110 mm combi braking system in the rear. It has a 17-inch tyre of 80/90 profile in the front while a 16-inch tyre of 80/100 section is available in the rear. It does not have a tank cover flap and has a metal underbody plate. This variant has bulb headlamp and a small LCD system without connectivity system.
- Bajaj Freedom Drum LED: Rs 1,05,000 – It is about Rs 10,000 more expensive than the base model and due to this the company has included some features in this variant. This mid variant of Freedom has LED headlight along with LED daytime running lights (DRL’s). It has a digital instrument cluster, although connectivity system is not available in this variant as well. It also has the same tyres as the base variant. There is a 17-inch tire at the front and a 16-inch tire at the rear. Both its wheels are equipped with 130 mm drum brakes which come with Combi Braking System (CBS). It has a plastic and metal dash plate for underbody protection.
- Bajaj Freedom Disk LED: Rs 1,10,000 – This top variant of Freedom is Rs 15,000 more expensive than the base model and Rs 5,000 more expensive than the mid variant. The company has included all the features in it. It has a digital instrument cluster with LED headlamp and LED daytime running lights. The special thing is that you can connect this bike to your smartphone via Bluetooth. Which cannot be done in the other two variants. Apart from this, a USB port is available to charge the smartphone. It has a 240 mm disc brake at the front and a 130 mm drum brake at the rear which comes with Combi Braking System. Apart from this, 17-inch alloy wheels of 90/80 section have been given in the front and 16-inch alloy wheels of 120/70 section have been given in the rear. This also comes with plastic and metal dash plate for underbody protection.

If you buy Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike, its starting ex-showroom price is Rs 95,000 to Rs 1.10 lakh. If you make a downpayment of Rs 10,000 to buy this bike, then you will have to take a loan of Rs 99,167 for it. If you get this loan at an interest rate of 9 percent for a period of 24 months (2 years), then you will have to pay Rs 5,910 every month as EMI. At the same time, you will have to pay a total of Rs 7,213 as interest for this bike.
How much EMI will have to be paid on a downpayment of Rs 20,000
If you make a downpayment of Rs 20,000 to buy this bike, then you will have to take a loan of Rs 89,167 for it. If you get this loan for a period of 18 months at an interest rate of 9 percent, then you will have to pay Rs 5,314 every month as EMI. At the same time, you will have to pay a total of Rs 6,485 as interest for this bike.
Bajaj Freedom 125 motorcycle will be available after this many days of booking
If reports are to be believed, its waiting period in some cities is less than a month. Like its waiting period in Mumbai is 20 to 30 days. At the same time, its waiting period in Pune is 30 to 45 days. Whereas, in Gujarat it is 45 days to 3 months. In such a situation, it is expected that its waiting period in other cities of the country can be at least 3 months or more.
