After a wait of 13 years, the second instalment of the 2009 blockbuster Avatar is finally in the theatres. The film earned around 20Cr even before its release.
Only four films in India were able to achieve this milestone in 2022, including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, RRR, KGF: Chapter 2, and Brahmastra: Part One Shiva.
So, what’s in this film that makes it so special? Many of us don’t know much about Avatar 2 as its first part was released years ago.
But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a short story overview of the Avatar franchise and a review of its sequel.
Story of Avatar & Avatar 2
The story of Avatar starts when humans found out about another alien world called Pandora owned by Na’vi.
Thereafter, humans create Avatars (Na’vi-human hybrids) to explore Pandore. They sent Jack Sully, a paralysed former Marine to know them.
But when Jack falls in love with a Na’vi girl and they accept him as one of their own, he has select where his loyalties lie.
Avatar: The Way of Water continues the story that started in its first part. Jake will fight a difficult war against their own people in this part.

Apart from them, the eyes of the Indian audience were also left open after watching Avatar 2. In those days, the special effects on the cinema screen were not that spectacular, nor were many VFX-heavy films made.
But when people saw ‘Avatar’, the wonderful world of James Cameron cast a spell on the screen. Here are some public reactions.
I just saw #AvatarTheWayOfWater and wow. I expected it to be a visual spectacle, but I didn’t expect it to be so emotionally resonant. Its nuanced characters, rich world building, and fulfilling story make this far better than its predecessor.
