Asia Cup 2018: India-Afghanistan Match Tied After A nail-biting Last-Over Finish
In the Asia Cup 2018 Super Four clash between India and Afghanistan resulted in a tie where the ace Afghanistan bowler, Rashid Khan bowled a splendid last over defending just 7 odd runs.
India vs Afghanistan, Asia Cup 2018 Highlights: After winning the toss, Afghanistan opted to bat first and had put 252/8 on the scoreboard in their 50 overs. Opener Mohammad Shahzad (124) smashed a brilliant century. Mohammad Shahzad was the most attacking batsman for Afghanistan as he played his natural game and hammered hard on the Indian bowlers.
In reply, India got off to a great start as new opener KL Rahul and Ambati Rayudu played some good strokes and kept the scoreboard running with occasional boundaries. However, both the openers were sent back as they reached their respective half-centuries. Following that, India kept losing wickets at regular intervals but was still on top of their strong start.
However, with the increasing dot deliveries and required asking rate, India failed to score that easily and Afghanistan edged closer and closer to a victory. Rashid Khan was given the last over of his spell with Ravindra Jadeja and Khaleel Ahmed on strike. Jadeja struck a boundary on the second ball to keep India in the race. However, Rashid Khan came back stronger with his next deliveries and ultimately the left-handed batsman, Ravindra Jadeja was caught in the deep with one ball to spare. For India, KL Rahul was the top scorer with 60 runs and Mohammad Shahzad of Afghanistan was adjudged “Man of the Match” Asia Cup 2018 Super Four league match.
