Army Chief MM Naravane Becomes Chairman of The Chiefs Of Staff Committee

The death of the First CDS of India Bipin Rawat has resumed the old system back in the forces leaving the post vacant. In other words, India will have to wait to get new CDS. Till then, the senior-most chief among all the three forces will be the in-charge. Army Chief General MM Naravane is selected for the post. He is the new Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee (COAS).

General Manoj Mukund Naravane has served the topmost position in the Indian Army before becoming CoSC.  He is the highest-ranking officer and serves as Chief of the Army Staff(COAS). MM Naravane belongs to the Sikh Light Infantry and third officer from the regiment to hold the post of COAS.

He took charge of the Army staff as Vice Chief after the retirement of Lt Gen Devraj Anbu. MM Naravane was also the General Officer Commanding in Chief of Eastern Command and Army Training Command.

He has been serving the Army since 1980 and was honored with several medals and awards. One of the most prestigious awards he got is Param Vishisht Seva Medal that is awarded for peacetime service.  Naravane was also honored with several Seva Medals for distinguished services, exceptional duty, and valor.
