7 Road Projects in MP to Have Foundation Ceremony Today

Foundation stone laying ceremony for the seven road projects in MP worth Rs 1128 Crore is going to be held today i.e. September 15.

The elevated road on Gwalior’s Swarnrekha river is special out of all the projects as it is MP’s first elevated road on any river.

In the launch event, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, and Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia are the special guests.

About Scindia’s Dream Road Project in Gwalior, MP

The elevated road in Gwalior is a gift from Jyoditiraditya Scindia which will be constructed on the 13.4 km long Swarnrekha river. It will help the public to escape jam due to heavy traffic coming from Morena, Agra, and Bhind highways.

The project’s journey will have to two-phase during which around 195 pillars will be erected on the river’s boundary.

The First Phase

The first phase of this Rs 829 Crore project will start after the foundation stone-keeping ceremony today. In the first phase, a 6-km long and 7.25-meter wide elevated road will be constructed from IITM to Rani Laxmibai Samadhi in Gwalior.

It would also have a total of four ramp roads for easy driving. Out of which, two ramp roads will be at the endpoints of the elevated road, one at Rani Laxmibai Samadhi and the other at IITM.

Remaining two will be constructed at Ramatapura and Ranipura. This project is aimed to reduce the burden of traffic by 50 percent.

Project Cost for First Phase

The total cost of elevated road construction in Gwalior is Rs 829 Crore.

For first phase, around Rs 447 Crore will be spent with the collaboration of Central and MP Government.

Both parties will contribute to the total expense as well which is Rs 406 Crore from the Centre side and the State Government will do the contribution of Rs 41 Crore.

Second Phase

Second phase will see the construction of a road to Hanuman Dam in the city. It would be a four-lane road with all the loops for easy connections with other areas.

Tender for Gwalior’s elevated road project is given to Gujarat company Srimangalam Buildcon which it won at a cost of Rs 363.42.

Besides this, an Inter-State Bus Terminus is to be made under this project. The Bhoomipujan ceremony of Gola Ka Mandir at Morena Road will also be done in the presence of all the chief guests and dignitaries today.

Six more road projects are to be launched in today’s event. Here is the list of foundation stone ceremony for those projects:

  • Meghonabara to Amrod Road
  • ROB on Agra loop road to Shatabdipuram road
  • Kurwai-Mungawali-Chanderi Section
  • Two-lane paved shoulder at Mihone, Lahar, Daboh, and Bhander Bypass
  • Road construction between Chinour-Karhia and Karhia-Bhitarwar
  • Dabra-Pichhor Road to Katare baba’s Samaddhi-Badera

These seven road projects of MP will cost Rs 1128 Crore to the state. The launch event is organized at Divyangjan Khel Parisary, Gwalior at 4:00 pm in the evening.
