On Saturday, bomb threats were made against 32 flights operated by Indian airlines, necessitating emergency screenings at numerous airports. According to officials, only one of them was diverted for an emergency landing and inspection. Even though they were delayed, all of the other flights were inspected upon arrival.
Indian Flight Operators Receives Numerous Bomb Threats
Numerous bomb threats were made to a number of Indian airlines, including Air India, IndiGo, Akasa Air, Vistara, SpiceJet, and Alliance Air, putting the aviation industry through a nightmare. Some of the messages were written in the restrooms, while others were sent via email and social media. Nonetheless, all were at last observed to be deceptions.
Only One Flight Diverted
A Vistara flight, UK 17, from Delhi to London was redirected to Frankfurt in Germany, where a security check was led before it continued to London following two hours. Officials added that the majority of bomb hoaxes were received after the flights arrived at their destinations.
BCAS Held Meeting With CEOs of Airlines
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) met with airline CEOs and representatives on Saturday in New Delhi as a response to the situation. During the meeting, Zulfiquar Hasan, Director General of BCAS, promised that Indian skies are safe and that all required protocols were being followed.
“The skies over India are completely safe. The situation-handling protocol that is currently in place is solid and is being strictly followed. Zulfiquar Hasan stated, “We reassure passengers that they should fly without fear and in fact, fly even more.”
One Acussed Got Arrested
The police have likewise captured a 17-year-old kid from Chhattisgarh. According to the investigation, he attempted to exact vengeance on his 25-year-old business partner over a financial dispute by making at least 19 threats. The police are coordinating with social media companies and Virtual Private Network (VPN) providers to investigate the other threats’ origins.
In the meantime, the Civil Aviation Ministry intends to take stringent measures to stop airlines from receiving hoax bomb threats, including putting the perpetrators on the no-fly list.
