Kia India has launched its much-awaited MPV Kia Carens Clavis in India. The company introduced it for the first time on 8 May and its booking started from the very next day at a token amount of Rs 25,000. This new offering from Kia will be available in the market along with the existing Carens model, but by adding the name ‘Clavis’ to it, it has been introduced as a premium upgrade.
Premium Design and Exterior Highlights
The 2025 Kia Carens Clavis has been designed as a facelift version of the current Carens. It is based on Kia’s K2 platform. Its front has a new LED light bar connecting the inverted L-shaped DRLs, while the triple pod headlamp design is inspired by the Kia EV5. Apart from this, a silver finish faux metal trim has also been given in the lower part of the bumper.
The design is great
The side profile of the car has a similar silhouette as Carens, but the black cladding around the doors and wheel arches give it an SUV-like look. New design 17-inch alloy wheels have also been added to it.
However, its door handles are no longer chrome finished. At the rear, sharp LED tail lights and a new light bar connecting them are seen. Apart from this, the rear spoiler also includes a stop lamp and silver finish trim on the bumper.
Interior equipped with luxury features
Carens Clavis has been launched in 6-seater (captain seats) and 7-seater options. Dual-tone (blue and beige) theme has been used in the cabin. There are two 12.3-inch screens on the dashboard, one of which is a touchscreen and the other is a digital driver display.
Premium Comfort and Technology
Surprisingly, the big screen on the top HTX variant does not feature wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while the 8-inch unit on the lower variants offers these features.
A touch-sensitive panel is provided below the central AC vents which is used for both media and climate control. Apart from this, the front seats are ventilated, but only the driver seat gets electric adjustment feature.
Carens Clavis has been given many premium features like wireless charger, 8-speaker Bose sound system, air purifier, panoramic sunroof, multiple drive modes (Eco, Normal, Sport), paddle shifters (DCT variant only), AC vents and USB ports for second and third row, Boss Mode seat like Hyundai Alcazar, and one-touch tumble feature.
New model comes with advanced safety
This new offering from Kia has been given Level 2 ADAS technology, which is not available in the standard Carens. It includes modern safety features like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist and rear cross traffic alert.
Apart from this, the car gets features like 360-degree camera, six airbags, ABS, hill-start assist, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and disc brakes on all wheels as standard.
Powerful engine and better mileage
The Kia Carens Clavis gets the same three 1.5-litre engine options that are offered in the standard Carens. This includes a 115hp naturally aspirated petrol, a 160hp turbo petrol and a 116hp diesel engine.
The difference is that the Clavis now also has the option of DCT and AT gearboxes, while the standard Carens is limited to manual and iMT only.
However, the CNG option has still not been added to it, which is available in Maruti Ertiga, XL6 and Toyota Rumion. If we talk about mileage, the diesel variant claims the highest 19.4 kilometers per liter. On the other hand, turbo petrol gives a fuel efficiency of 16.66 km/l and NA petrol gives a fuel efficiency of 15.34 km/l.
