Taking care of our immune system is very important as it prevents our body from illnesses like colds and flu. But here are some of the food items that are weakening your immune system. And one should avoid these food habits to prevent health-related issues.

1. Added sugar

Added sugar in food like sweets, cake, and tea can risk the overall functioning of your immune system. Foods that are taken with added sugar increase the possibility of the generation of inflammatory proteins like tumor necrosis alpha (TNF-a), C-reactive protein (CRP), and interleukin-6 (IL-6), all of which negatively affect the immune system.

This is especially found in people with diabetes, as they can have high blood sugar levels than people with balanced blood sugar levels.

High blood sugar levels can also hamper the action of immune cells, neutrophils, and phagocytes.

For a healthy immune system, one should limit added sugar intake in foods, beverages, and other sugary items. 

2. Salty Foods

Foods like chips, frozen dinners, and other fast food cause a lot of problems to the immune system of the body. 

Too much salty food can also worsen pre-existing autoimmune diseases like ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus. Which affects the functioning of the body.
